Here is what our residents and families are saying:

We didn't come to the decision to move our mom into L'Chaim lightly. It was agonizing to admit that our mother had entered a new and unpredictable stage in her life.

After our initial meeting with Judy we knew that our mom would be well cared for. What we didn't know was that Judy and her staff would make such a difference in our mother's life and in ours. Simply put, the team of staff is incredible. It is obvious in our mom's ever evolving care plan, in the way the staff connects to our mom, in the homemade meals she enjoys and in the way the staff know our mother's (and our family's) quirks.

There is no master plan at L' Chaim. Judy and her staff take the time to get to know each resident and develop a care plan. They also take the time to revise that care plan as often as needed as the resident's needs change.

After five years we are more than confident that our decision to move our mother into L'Chaim was the right one. She is loved, respected, safe and well cared for every day no matter what the day brings. And we have peace of mind,

"Dear Judy: It has been a year since my mother has become a resident at L'Chaim. This transition has been emotionally difficult. It is through your kindness, ability and compassion that I have seen my mother undergo positive changes. The staff at L'Chaim has been integral to the betterment of my mother's health and well-being. Mother¹s evolving health issues are managed with professionalism and a warm sense of family. You and the staff help, listen and respond. Through staff and residents, my mother has developed trust and friendships. You also have given my husband and I the same feeling of inclusiveness. THANK YOU!"

"I have been at L'chaim since it opened. L'chaim is clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished. The atmosphere is homey and the staff efficient, attentive and devoted. Judy puts her whole heart and soul into running the home and is loved and respected by staff, clients and their families. It is a pleasure to work in such an environment. The level of care is excellent."

"Dear Judy: I want to thank you, Esther, and your outstanding staff for how beautifully you helped my mother make the transition to retirement life. She is so happy with her new friends and the loving attention she gets from the staff. I am so impressed: the staff doesn't just 'work' there, they really care about the residents and their families, and treat everyone with such dignity and warmth. L'chaim doesn't feel at all like an institution, it feels like a family. It was an excellent choice!"

- Best wishes, Rabbi Elyse Goldstein

"Dear Judy: I did not know what to expect at L'chaim. What I found out is that I feel like I am on a long vacation! Wonderful staff, very caring and always attending to your needs. Fabulous meals and great entertainment. The kind you can not find anywhere else. We have a great activity director and a physiotherapist who brings mental and physical care to our life."

"L'chaim is like a second home for me after Florida. The programs at L'chaim keep my mind sharp and busy. The days are very enjoyable. Since I have been here I have made many new friends."

"Dear Judy, After last weekend’s party for my mother’s 90th birthday, there were no words to describe the family’s feeling and gratitude to you and your staff at L’chaim. On Wednesday night she was transported to the hospital by ambulance. She was diagnosed with pneumonia; and the doctors refused to admit her because of an epidemic in the hospital. She was sent back home. There are no words to describe the love and care at L’chaim. Every single person from Winnie, Evelyn, Esther, Moti, Lerma and yourself (to mention just a few) went out of their way to make sure she got well enough for her party on Sunday. My mother, since she has been at L’chaim, has changed tremendously. You keep her busy for 10 hours a day. She gets much love and affection and from all that she radiates happiness. She keeps busy and is always entertained. Her life before L’chaim was dull and boring. Now, most often when I call her she “has no time” to talk to me because she is having so much fun at L’chaim. She wouldn’t come back to live with me even if I paid her! May G’d bless you all for being what you are: L’chaim, indeed, to life and not a waiting station for the hereafter like most retirement homes. With all our love and Thanks"

"L’chaim is a small intimate retirement home with wonderful people, centered values, and a big warm compassionate heart. L’chaim was created into being by Judy Cohen. Judy had a vision of a home for the elderly where their concerns, needs and desires are heeded. Judy has a gift for hiring marvelous staff. The staff seem to genuinely enjoy their work. They are very helpful, compassionate, and loving to the residents and welcoming to the families."

"Dear L’chaim staff: Sometimes a family needs that extra special touch that only people who really care can give. Myself and my family found that in each and every one of you. It lifted our burden and lightened our load We thank you so much for all you do and we want to give you our sincere thanks for giving so much of yourself. We appreciate your compassion and hard work and for all of that we are so very grateful."
